Havana, January 14 (RHC)-- Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ramiro Valdes checked Friday the state of the Lidio Ramon Thermoelectric Company (ETE) in the eastern province of Holguin, of which only one of its units is in operation.

The ETE, located in the town of Felton in that region, currently contributes around 230 megawatts (MW) to the National Electroenergy System through Unit One, which is scheduled to shut down for maintenance at the beginning of February, according to the energy situation at that time.

Euclides Rodriguez, director of "Felton", clarified that during approximately 20 days, they will carry out an evaluation of several equipment and attachments of this Unit, among them the trunnions and bearings; besides other actions aimed at increasing the generation to levels between 250 and 260 MW.

As for the rehabilitation project of Block Two of the ETE, affected by a fire in July 2022, the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés reviewed the progress achieved so far in the process of dismantling the structure of the boiler, which is progressing at 63 percent.

Erick Milanés, in charge of the project, informed that the dismantling of the furnace was completed, as well as that of the roof and the intermediate wall of the boiler; meanwhile, the uncoupling of the main steam pipes, the convective axis and the bandages continues.

The ETE consists of two thermal units: One with an installed power of 260 MW and Two of 250 MW; in addition to a fuel oil generator of 184 MW, in the municipality of Moa (Source: Prensa Latina).
