Havana, Jan 22 (RHC) The U.S. Coast Guard (SGC) today returned 68 irregular migrants through the port of Orozco, in Bahía Honda, in the province of Artemisa.

Official information from the Ministry of Interior (MININT) stated that the group consisted of 48 men, 18 women, and two minors, who participated in five illegal departures from the country and were intercepted at sea by the U.S. Coast Guard.

According to the MININT, one of them was taken into custody for being allegedly involved in serious criminal acts, which are being investigated.  With this new arrival, there are 11 operations so far this year carried out by the US authorities with 1339 people returned.

Cuban authorities have ratified their commitment to regular, safe, and orderly migration, and in particular their alert on the dangerous and life-threatening conditions posed by illegal departures from the country by sea and the irresponsible involvement of innocent minors. (Source: ACN)
