Havana, Jan 24 (RHC) Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz attended Tuesday the signing of the book of condolences opened by the Gambian Embassy in Havana, on the occasion of the death of that country's vice president, Badara Alieu Joof, on January 18.

 

The senior leader conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Cuban people and government to the Gambian government and the people.

 

Representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Island, he was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Luis Alberto Amorós Núñez, director of Sub-Saharan Africa, who also expressed his deepest sorrow for this painful event.

 

Upon hearing the news of Badara Alieu Joof's death, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed his condolences to the family and relatives of the Gambian official.

 

Cuba and Gambia established diplomatic relations in 1979, and for more than three decades they have maintained cooperation in the health sector. (Source: ACN)
