Cuba's commitment to education recognized at Pedagogy congress

Havana, Jan 30 (RHC) The director of UNESCO's Regional Bureau of Education for Latin America and the Caribbean, Claudia Uribe, today recognized Cuba's commitment to education during the International Pedagogy Congress 2023.

 

Speaking at the event, the executive highlighted the role of the Caribbean nation in promoting initiatives linked to the pedagogical field and pointed out the educational challenges of the region and its tradition of cooperation in this area.

 

As part of her lecture, Uribe called to reconsider the actions that must be undertaken as a whole to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a view to 2030.

 

In this regard, she noted that the 2030 Education Agenda remains the framework through which countries coordinate efforts to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education, as well as to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, as stated in SDG number four.

 

The regional office will continue to accompany the work of Latin America and the Caribbean to turn the goals and commitments into action so that they can be achieved, said the director.

 

The Pedagogy 2023 Congress kicked off on Monday at the Havana Convention Palace with a lecture by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

 

The also doctor of science addressed the management of science and innovation in general education in Cuba, which he said is essential for the improvement of teaching, in line with the requirements of economic and social development.

 

The event also called a meeting for the unity of educators, will be held until Friday with the participation of delegates from more than 30 countries to discuss the achievement of inclusive education, with equity and better quality.
