Havana, February 13 (RHC)-- The vice president of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), Ana Maria Mari Machado signed on Monday the condolence books at the Turkish and Syrian embassies in Havana, in memory of the victims of the earthquakes that occurred last February 6.
The deputy ratified the support of the Cuban people to both countries for the loss of lives and damage caused by the earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, the legislature reported on its Twitter profile.
Last Wednesday, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel arrived at the Turkish embassy to reiterate to the people and government of Turkey the deep regret for the consequences caused, and the solidarity of the largest Antillean island.
International media reported that the death toll in those nations amounts to more than 36 thousand, and more than 80 thousand people were injured, while rescue efforts continue after seven days of the unfortunate event.
