Havana, February 17 (RHC)--  The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel described Friday in the central city of Santa Clara, as an act of democracy the dialogues of the candidates for deputies to the Parliament with representatives of productive sectors and the population.

"The people have shown their support for the candidacy, but at the same time problems and concerns were raised about what is being done and what can be done in the future," he said.

The head of state stressed that the united vote, during the suffrages of March 26, will give legitimacy and credibility to the National Assembly of People's Power, since there are comrades proposed who are less known than others, but equally they give heart and soul to the revolutionary process.

He indicated that work is being done on the conception of the Law on Enterprises in the country, for which reason it is necessary to continue giving primacy to the state enterprise system, and also to bet on the links with the non-state one.

Díaz-Canel valued the construction sector as one of the most affected by the world economic crisis, since there were productions that had to be stopped to save human lives during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Cuban president, along with seven other candidates for deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power, spoke with workers and representatives of the Construction and Assembly Company, the Azuma logistics branch, which supplies resources to the sugar sector, and Inpud 'Primero de Mayo', a domestic utensils manufacturer.

This Friday was the fourth day of exchanges in the city, which is 268 kilometers east of Havana.

Hundreds of workers, students, district delegates, sportsmen, musicians, public health personnel and community residents of all ages and professions have expressed their feelings in different venues around Santa Clara.
