Managua, August 22 (RHC) -- Laura Labañino, daughter of the Cuban anti-terrorist Ramón Labañino, paid a visit Thursday to the National Assembly of Nicaragua, to speak to lawmakers about the case of the Cuban Five.

Ramon, along with Gerardo Hernández, René González, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando González, were arrested in 1998 for monitoring groups that organized and financed terrorist actions from Florida against the island.

Only Rene and Fernando have returned to Cuba, after fully completing their sentence.

Addressing parliament members, Laura denounced the situation of the remaining three Cuban anti-terrorists in the northern nation, who, she said, have been in prison for 15 years without a minimum of evidence to demonstrate their culpability.

She also highlighted the situation of Gerardo Hernández, who is serving two life prison sentences plus 15 years and is not allowed to receive visits from his wife, who has been forbidden to see him since he was detained in 1998.

She also denounced her father's lack of access to quality health services.  She said that the prison does not have a good medical service, the United States health system is not suitable for the population in general, much less for those who are in prison.
