The President of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin, arrived today in Cuba on an official visit, at the invitation of the head of the Cuban parliament, Esteban Lazo.
Havana, April 29 (RHC)--The President of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin, arrived today in Cuba on an official visit, at the invitation of the head of the Cuban parliament, Esteban Lazo.
The Vice-President of the Cuban Legislative, Ana María Mari, met him at the José Martí International Airport in Havana, according to the website of the National Assembly of People's Power.
The vice chief of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Juan Carlos Marsán, and the general director of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ángel Villa, among other Cuban officials, also attended the meeting. Also present was the Russian ambassador to Havana, Viktor Viktorovich Koronelli.
Volodin heads a delegation made up of State Duma executives and the different committees of that body and of the Federation Council; in addition to authorities from several ministries and representatives of other executive branch agencies.
The agenda of the visit includes official talks with the leadership of the Cuban parliament, as well as a session of the Commission for Interparliamentary Cooperation between the State Duma and the National Assembly of the People's Republic of Cuba, which responds to an agreement signed in Moscow last November 30 with the aim of strengthening ties between the two nations.
