Cuban intellectual Iroel Sanchez dies in Havana
Havana, May 19 (RHC)-- On Thursday afternoon, the outstanding Cuban intellectual Iroel Sánchez Espinosa, recognized for his active work as a cultural leader, journalist and political analyst, as well as writer, editor and audiovisual producer, passed away in Havana.
According to a note from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Communications of the Caribbean country, Sanchez Espinosa "directed the Abril Publishing House and was president of the Cuban Book Institute and of the Organizing Committee of the Havana International Book Fair, responsibilities from which he promoted important programs associated with the promotion of books and reading".
The text also explains that the Cuban intellectual "was one of the founders of the digital cultural magazine La Jiribilla and actively participated in the gestation of the Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Fighters In Defense of Humanity".
The communiqué also highlights his work in the Cuban Ministry of Communications, mainly related to the program of informatization of society and the production of content for digital networks.
