Cuban lawmakers debate issues of interest for the people
Havana, Jul 20 (HC) The President of Cuban National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP) Esteban Lazo said the agenda approved at the beginning of the First Ordinary Session in its 10th Legislature on Thursday, includes problems that directly affect the people's life.
At the beginning of this session at the Havana-based International Conference Center, the parliamentary leader stated that ANPP members are analyzing the draft law of the Military Penal Code and the Comprehensive Policy for the Care of Children and Adolescents.
The lawmakers are also examining the fulfillment of the general guidelines to fight crime, illegalities, and social indiscipline; the effectiveness of the measures to control prices, the situation and prospects of the energy system; the behavior of the economy in the first half of 2023, and other issues.
The approved agenda will be intense, said Lazo, who explained that the National Assembly of People's Power is responsible for discussing, analyzing, presenting proposals, and making decisions on matters that are part of the public agenda.
It is a responsibility and a part of each lawmaker’s commitment to the people, the President of Cuban National Assembly of People's Power added before the plenary session, which is being attended by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro; and President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Some 85 issues of interest for the people, including the economy, production, prices, the quality of services, and care for people in vulnerable situations, have been debated during these two days, Lazo pointed out. (Source: PL)
