Havana, August 1 (RHC) -- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz evaluated on Tuesday in the central-southern city of Trinidad, the upcoming opening of the Meliá Trinidad Peninsula hotel, as well as the social and food programs of that territory.
He also checked the tasks to celebrate the 510th anniversary of the third town founded by the Spaniards in the Cuban archipelago.
The tour began at the Meliá, in the seaside resort of the Ancón peninsula, where he analyzed its execution with the highest authorities of the province of Sancti Spíritus, to which Trinidad belongs, the tourism sector and the management and workers of the facility in view of its upcoming opening.
The project will have 401 rooms, divided between standard and The Level, and one of its strengths is that it is a self-sufficient hotel, which evolves the tourist development in the central region of Cuba.
Marrero Cruz praised the works carried out and made certain observations to improve the environment and the access road in order to give the required personality to one of the most comfortable hotels in the country.
"When it is officially inaugurated -with the beginning of the coming season 240 rooms will be offered- it will represent a radical change in time, the past will be left behind and new offers, services and facilities will be reborn where the benefits will reach the population," he said.

The head of government commented that the Meliá Trinidad Peninsula will serve as a link with other tourist centers in central Cuba, the northern keys and even national destinations.
Its general director, Juan Pereira, explained that its location is excellent, on the second most important beach in the country, and guests will also be able to enjoy the mountains, history, culture and charms of Trinidad, a World Cultural Heritage Site.
Regarding the characteristics of the hotel, he explained that it has energy self-sufficiency as it has 1,500 photovoltaic panels and a solar hot water system, which are strengths for the stability of the operation.
Marrero's visit to the third Cuban villa concluded at the Municipal Assembly of People's Power (Government) where he checked the socioeconomic programs, food production, rehabilitation of vulnerable areas and the revival of the city.
