Havana, August 24 (RHC) -- Solidarity meetings with social organizations from a dozen countries will be part of the 10th Congress of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in Cuba, organizers of the event announced Thursday.

In a press conference, headed by the National Coordinator of the CDR, the Hero of the Republic of Cuba Gerardo Hernandez, they assured that the event of the largest mass organization of the Caribbean island, will have delegations from 12 nations from Latin America, the United States, Asia and Europe.

After the sessions of the great event - scheduled for September 26-28 - solidarity meetings will be held for unity, peace and integration of the peoples, promoted by these groups in solidarity with the Caribbean island.

The morning of September 29 will be devoted to exchanging work projections with social groups, among which the Vietnam Patriotic Front and the Front for the Development of Laos, with closer ties with the CDR, stand out.

Likewise, it will be the opportunity to strengthen links with other associations that play similar social roles such as the Russian Civic Chamber, with which there were exchanges of delegations recently, said Hernandez.

In the afternoon of the same day, the annual meeting of the Continental Front of Communal Organizations (FCOC) will take place, which is expected to be attended by some 38 community activists from Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, Ecuador, United States, Spain, Russia, Vietnam and Laos.

According to Hernandez, also a member of the Council of State, the congress will be attended by 480 delegates and 120 guests from all Cuban provinces that previously undertook a strong mass movement to strengthen and revitalize the organization.

The conclave will meet in three working commissions that will evaluate the organization's cadre policy, economic tasks, ideological work linked to the care of children, adolescents and young people, revolutionary vigilance and preventive work, said the CDR leader. (Source:PL)
