Foreign Minister of Panama will attend the Summit of the G77 and China, in Havana

Havana, Sep 6 (RHC) The Chancellor of Panama, Janaina Tewaney, confirmed this Wednesday that she will participate in the G77 and China Summit that will meet in Havana on September 15 and 16.

The head of the Panamanian diplomacy said she was very excited about the appointment of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, to represent him at that meeting.

Tewaney also praised Cuba's convening power for that two-day meeting, and stated that given the broad participation of nations from the African continent, she hopes to advance the establishment of relations with many of them, without mentioning which ones.

The meeting, convened by the Cuban president and president pro tempore of the Group, Miguel Díaz-Canel, will strengthen the unity of the member countries, as well as decide on collective and practical actions to effectively confront contemporary challenges.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez recently declared that the Summit is indispensable in the midst of the global multisectoral crisis. He stated that the meeting takes place at a time when the countries of the south are looking for a way to solve these problems within spheres of independence and sovereignty.

Cuba began last January the pro tempore presidency of that negotiating bloc of developing countries. During the period, the Caribbean nation hosted important meetings, including those of the Ministers of Education, Culture and Tourism.

The G77 emerged in June 1964 and is considered the largest and most diverse consultation group in the multilateral sphere, with 134 member states. (Source: PL)
