Moscow, September 13 (RHC) -- Moscow is calling for the release of remaining Cuban Five members from U.S. prisons and fully backs the international campaign in their support, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich said.
This case is an example of Washington’s "double standards in the fields of human rights and tackling international terrorism," the spokesman added.
The Cuban Five anti-terrorist fighters were imprisoned in the U.S. for working undercover in Florida to prevent terrorist attacks planned against Cuba by U.S.-based extremist groups.
Two members of the group have been recently released, but three others remain behind bars after receiving long, unjust sentences.
