Cuba and Laos Reaffirm Constant Mutual Support

Vientiane, September 15 (RHC) -- Laos and Cuba reaffirmed their mutual commitment to promote efforts to aid economic development in both countries, according to Monday's edition of the Vientiane Times newspaper, referring to the recent visit of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez to that Asian nation.

Arriving from Vietnam, Cuba's top diplomat was welcomed by Laotian President Choummaly Sayasone, who praised his country's growing relationship with Cuba and thanked the official visitor for the support given by Cuba to his country.

Rodriguez complied with an invitation from his host counterpart, also Deputy Prime Minister Thong-loun Siso-ulith, to review the current diplomatic ties and discuss the expansion of cooperation projects and trade.

A statement from the Laos Foreign Ministry described the Cuban Minister's visit as a landmark event that contributes to the strengthening of friendship between the two nations.

Bruno Rodriguez expressed his satisfaction in visiting this country to learn firsthand about its development and reaffirmed that Cuba will continue to provide assistance in human resource development, education and health resources.

According to the local newspaper, Rodriguez conveyed an invitation by President Raul Castro to Choummaly Sayasone to visit Cuba at a mutually convenient time for both parties.
