Havana, September 23 (RHC)-- The minister of China´s Food and Drugs Administration (CFDA, Zhang Yong, visited Havana's Center for the State Control of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Equipment (CECMED) in a further action to strengthen bilateral cooperation relations in the health and biotechnology sectors.
Zhang Young visit’s came on the heels of an invitation by Cuban Health Minister Doctor Roberto Morales and is part of actions to follow up on a bilateral accord signed in July during the visit to Havana by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Cooperation links between the Cuban and the Chinese entities were established in 2001 with the signing of a memo of understanding, which has been updated over the past years, said Doctor Rafael Perez, director of the Cuban institution.
The two entities have favored the successful implementation of projects such as the joint ventures Changheber and Biotech Pharmaceutical for the production of Cuban pharmaceuticals in China.
China has registered 98 products of 12 different providers in Cuba, which have been imported for the local health sector.
