Havana, January 31 (RHC)-- Chilean journalist and political leader Juan Andrés Lagos today highlighted the participation of some 60 media executives from 30 countries in the "New Operation Truth" Conference, held January 21-23, organized by the Prensa Latina news agency.

The person in charge of Political Relations of the Communist Party of Chile and one of the founders of the Chilean media Crónica Digital attended the journalistic event, and highlighted the unity and contribution of the participants in the face of disinformation and false news.

Lagos later visited the headquarters of Prensa Latina to meet with its president, Luis Enrique González, with whom he agreed to underline the close collaboration between the agency and Crónica Digital.

Likewise, they committed themselves to strengthen those ties and join efforts to put into action the postulates expressed by the delegates to the Conference, held for the 65th Anniversary of Operation Truth, called by Fidel Castro to face hostile media campaigns coming from the United States.

The Chilean journalist also visited the Fidel Castro Center in the capital city, where he presented its director, Rene Gonzalez, with the medal for the 50th anniversary of the coup d'état against President Salvador Allende.
