Cuba and Laos ratify state of parliamentary relations
Havana, March 25 (RHC) Ana María Mari Machado, vice president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, and her counterpart from Laos, Sounthone Xayachack, ratified today in Geneva, the mutual interest in continuing to develop parliamentary relations.
On her X account, the parliamentary leader shared images of the meeting, held in the context of the 148th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU).
During the dialogue, the parties reaffirmed the historical ties of friendship and brotherhood between the people of both nations.
Mari heads the Cuban delegation at the event, and during the last few days she has met with authorities from Algeria, Cyprus, Palestine and Nigeria.
The Assembly will continue until March 27 with the participation of all the statutory bodies of the IPU, including the Governing Council, the Standing Committees, the Committees on Human Rights of Parliamentarians and Middle East Issues, the Forum of Parliamentary Women and the Forum of Young Deputies.
The overall theme of the event focuses on parliamentary diplomacy and will provide a platform for delegates to deliberate, exchange views and drive parliamentary action in this area. (Source: ACN)
