New York, June 2 (RHC) The exhibition "65 Years at the Service of Truth," made up of photographs from the Agencia Prensa Latina, was inaugurated on Saturday in New York City in the context of the sessions of the Hispanic American Press Congress.

The selection was unveiled with the presence of the alternate permanent representative of Cuba to the United Nations Yuri Gala, the first vice president of Prensa Latina, Luisa María González, and the president and founder of the Hispanic American Press Congress, Amín Cruz.

Twenty snapshots with key moments and figures from the last six decades make up the exhibition that is part of the activities held in the United States for the anniversary of the Latin American Information Agency.

Among others, iconic scenes from the genesis of Prensa Latina starring Gabriel Garcia Márquez and Ernesto Che Guevara appear; meetings of the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro; or the respective visits to Cuba of former North American presidents Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama.

Demonstrations against the Israeli offensive in Gaza or the hostile policy of that Government carried out by Cuba together with prominent figures of culture or sports on the island and the world also make up the images collected by Prensa Latina reporters as part of their work in more than 30 nations.

The exhibition adorns the second and last day of the Hispanic American Press Congress, inaugurated the day before at the United Nations Organization. According to the planned program, an expanded version of the exhibition with 65 snapshots will be presented on June 6 at the Nicaraguan embassy in Washington.

Prensa Latina was born in 1959 at the initiative of Fidel Castro, Ernesto Guevara and Jorge Ricardo Masetti committed to supporting the just causes of the planet.

According to its first vice president, the nascent media was the response of the revolutionary and progressive government to the media manipulation that predominated. (PL)
