Diaz-Canel slams US cynicism on Cuba

Havana, Jul 10 (RHC) President Miguel Díaz-Canel said that the terrorist actions being plotted by the United States against Cuba are evidence of imperial cynicism.

"For some time now we have been warning the United States about terrorists operating against Cuba from Florida. However, they continue to act with impunity," the president denounced on his X account.

The head of state stressed that the position of the northern nation does correspond to a state sponsor of terrorism, a designation imposed on the Caribbean country, despite the broad international rejection.

A recent investigation by the Cuban Ministry of the Interior (MININT) determined the direct participation of violent organizations from South Florida in a frustrated terrorist operation against the largest of the Antilles.

Speaking in a special program broadcast on national television, Colonel Victor Alvarez, second chief of the Specialized Body of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of the Interior, explained that facts like this have been repeatedly denounced to the U.S. authorities.

Colonel Alvarez said that the capture in December 2023 of Ardenys Garcia Alvarez, 40, after his illegal entry into the country through the north of the western province of Matanzas, led to an investigation that confirmed his objectives and identified his financiers and accomplices.

Ardenys García Álvarez, a native of the province of Cienfuegos (center-south), illegally emigrated to the United States in 2014, and in December 2023 clandestinely introduced weapons and ammunition in Cuba, using a jet ski, with the purpose of carrying out terrorist actions, reported.

The investigation showed that this action was planned, organized, supported and financed by a group of Cuban terrorists based in the United States, some of whom have carried out other actions of this nature against Cuba, he said.

He also noted that these acts have been repeatedly denounced to the U.S. authorities and law enforcement agencies in that country. (Source: Prensa Latina)
