The National Brand Council of Cuba (Marca País) was officially created in a protocol ceremony held at the National Hotel in Havana.

Havana, July 23 (RHC) Cuba's National Brand Council( Marca País) was officially created in a protocol ceremony held at the National Hotel in Havana.

The president of the Institute of Information and Social Communication, Alfonso Noya, appointed the first vice-president of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators, Humberto Juan Fabián Suárez, will serve as head of this structure.

The authority is empowered to decide on the use of this mark and to exercise its promotion, protection, management, control and defense.

The Council will also be in charge of controlling the correct use of the granted authorizations in Cuban territory and abroad, as well as promoting their use for national and international positioning.

By virtue of a decree of the Council of Ministers, the entity has its own legal personality and is part of the Institute of Information and Social Communication, an agency of the Central State Administration, which, among other functions, manages the image and the brand.

In addition to Fabián Suárez, it is made up of representatives from several entities, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Investment, and Tourism.

It also includes delegates from the Chamber of Commerce, the Cuban Offices of Design, Standardization and Industrial Property, and the Association of Social Communicators.

During the protocol ceremony, Noya presented the Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García, with a recognition of the work of this portfolio in the promotion of a brand to distinguish the origin of institutional offers and actions.

Likewise, the Council granted the status of Ambassador of the National Brand to the Hotel Nacional, due to its reputation as a flagship of the Cuban hotel industry.

Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, who attended the ceremony along with other authorities, said that the main objective of the Country Brand is to homogenize the concept of the nation among the most diverse publics in a globalized and highly competitive environment. (Source: Prensa Latina)
