Beirut, October 10 (RHC-PL) -- Lebanon's stance regarding the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba will remain unchanged. Our vote, as always, will support the demand of the Cuban people to end the U.S. siege that has lasted more than 50 years.

The remarks were made by Wafic Rahimi, Secretary-General of the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, during a meeting with Cuban ambassador to Beirut, Rene Ceballo.

The meeting allowed both diplomats to exchange criteria about the current state of bilateral relations, and emphasize the traditional friendship and solidarity that characterizes the ties between Beirut and Havana.

In addition to advocating for mutual and permanent support at multilateral agencies, Rahimi, who is the deputy foreign minister, reiterated his country's stance in supporting Cuba against U.S. punitive economic sanctions.

"Lebanon will maintain the historic vote in favor of the Resolution "Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States of America against Cuba," to be voted on October 28th at the UN General Assembly, the diplomat stated.
