Agreement signed for the implementation of the Social Communication Law

Havana, August 1 (RHC) Under the premise of developing advisory, teaching and scientific research activities for the effective implementation of the Social Communication Law and its regulations, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) and the Institute of Information and Social Communication (ICS).

Yamila Peña Ojeda, Attorney General of the Republic, told the press that the law has a direct relationship with the institutional mission of the body, as established by the Constitution, to exercise control over criminal investigations and the exercise of public criminal action and control over legality.

Precisely, one of the objectives of the provision is to provide transparency, information and, through consensus, to permanently link the people to the processes of the country.

From the Havana Convention Palace, he said that the law must be respected in conjunction with other regulations, since information and constitutional processes do not work in isolation.

Alfonso Noya Martínez, president of the Institute of Information and Social Communication, described the FGR as an important reference in terms of communication, given its work and experience in dialog with internal and external audiences.

Noya Martínez acknowledged that the Convention is a crucial process, given the need to seek alliances in order to implement the law in an appropriate and gradual manner.

This law alone will not solve the problem of communication in Cuba; therefore, a joint work must be carried out between society and institutions, he added.

The FGR became the first body to sign a Collaboration Agreement with the ICS for the preparation and implementation of the legal instrument, and it will remain in force until both parties designate otherwise. (Source: ACN)
