Cuban Deputy Prime Minister fulfills work agenda in Dominican Republic

 

Havana, Aug. 15 (RHC) Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca is carrying out an extensive work agenda in the Dominican Republic, where he is heading the Cuban delegation that will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the country's re-elected president, Luis Abinader, next Friday.

 

According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the largest of the Antilles, the delegation also includes Ydael Pérez Brito, Minister of Agriculture; Rafael Dausá Céspedes, director general for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Ángel Arzuaga Reyes, Cuban ambassador to the Caribbean nation.

 

As part of his agenda, Tapia met with former President Hipólito Mejía; Limber Cruz, Minister of Agriculture; Miguel Mejías, Minister of Integration Policies and Secretary General of the United Left Movement; and José Coronado, President of the Dominican-Cuban Chamber of Commerce and other businessmen from that Caribbean nation.

 

He also interacted with the group from the Cuban State Mission on the occasion of the tribute to the 98th birthday of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

 

On Wednesday, the delegation visited agricultural areas and food processing industries in the province of Peravia.

 

Today, Tapia Fonseca met with the Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte; the Executive Director of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, Olmedo Caba; and personalities from the biotechnology sector.

 

In the early hours of Thursday morning, he met with the director of the National Council of Free Zones, Daniel Liranzo, and will travel to the city of Baní to visit the Máximo Gómez Polytechnic Institute and other historical sites related to the life of this famous Dominican patriot. In the afternoon, the Cuban Deputy Prime Minister will meet with former President Leonel Fernandez and in the evening the delegation will attend a reception offered by the Dominican government to the delegations present in the country to attend the inauguration of Abinader for the 2024-2028 term.
