Cuba officially joined UNESCO on August 29, 1947

Havana, August 29 (RHC) Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez today ratified the island's commitment to the UNESCO mandate, and highlighted its fundamental role in achieving peace and sustainable development.

This was stated by Rodríguez on X, regarding the 77th anniversary of Cuba’s entry into the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The island officially joined the multilateral entity on August 29, 1947. Such ties were strengthened after the triumph of the Revolution of January 1, 1959, as this process embraced the Organization's vision of contributing to the search for peace from dialogue, mutual understanding, and intellectual and moral solidarity of humanity.

Cuba and UNESCO reach these 77 years with relations based on the principles of solidarity and cooperation. (Source: PL)
