Lobamba, October 17 (RHC) -– His Majesty King Mswati III of Swaziland has expressed his gratitude to the government of Cuba for its efforts in the fight against the Ebola virus in Africa.

Upon receiving a letter of credentials from the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the kingdom at the Lozitha Royal Palace, His Majesty said Africa acknowledges the contribution made by Cuba to the improvement of health standards in the region.

“Recently, we heard the good news of how your country was assisting in combating Ebola that has not only affected Africa, but the whole world,” the monarch said.

“We have heard that a team of doctors have been deployed by your country to assist in many countries,” the King told Ambassador Carlos Fernandez Cossio, who was accompanied by his wife Alexandra de Bernard.

His Majesty mentioned that the efforts shown by Cuba have not gone unnoticed by the people of the continent. Mswati III also noted that the two countries had good cooperation, especially in the health sector.

The King expressed hope that the appointment of Cossio would strengthen the countries’ bilateral relationship.

For his part, the Cuban ambassador pointed out to His Majesty that in the coming year, the two countries would have reached the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Cossio expressed hope that the countries could jointly celebrate the anniversary as a model of successful relations between two developing countries devoted to peace, friendship, solidarity and respect for International Law and the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.
