Villa Clara University hosts International Science Congress

 

Havana, Nov 18 (RHC) The University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara hosted the First International Congress on the Integration of Sciences, bringing together experts from various academic fields in Cuba.

The event was organized by the chairs "Integration of Sciences and Higher Education for Sustainable Development" and "History, Art, and Medicine, and was held in both in-person and virtual formats.

The congress featured 160 exhibits related to the integration of science and higher education, with a focus on sustainable development.

Angélica Rarallos, a professor at the University of Chimborazo in Ecuador, viewed the gathering as a chance for a scholarly and academic dialogue between Cuban and Ecuadorian institutions, with the aim of enhancing inter-institutional collaboration and enhancing the knowledge of both educators and students.

In partnership with the Ecuadorian Center for Advanced Studies and Spanish universities, including those in Granada, Vigo, and Santiago de Compostela, a gathering was held to explore the obstacles in the realm of transformative education, with a particular emphasis on sustainable development and global citizenship.

The scientific program encompassed discussions on topics such as human health and well-being, peaceful coexistence and conflict resolution, environmental sustainability, social security, and heritage.

Participants also addressed issues related to gender equity and equality, food sustainability, and the use of information and communication technologies in higher education.

Calixto Orozco, rector of the University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara and the honorary president of the congress, highlighted the key outcomes of the event, which included the establishment of alliances between higher education institutions.

Additionally, the congress emphasized the development of strategies focused on the integration of education, science, and health, and the recognition of Cuba as a leading territory in academic research.

The congress also celebrated the international initiative to create a UNESCO Chair at the University of Medical Sciences in Villa Clara, a symbol of the university's dedication to producing healthcare professionals who uphold human values and work towards the harmonious integration of society with the natural world.
