Tampa, Oct. 21 (RHC-AP) — Leaders from The Florida Aquarium in Tampa visited Cuba to discuss a possible partnership with the Havana's National Aquarium.

The Tampa Tribune reports no official documents were signed during the weekend visit, but those representing the aquarium believe the trip was a success. Vice President Margo McKnight told the press that the trip and the talks "exceeded her expectations."

She says the primary focus of talks was on coral reef research.

Under preliminary talks, the Florida Aquarium would get access to Cuba's pristine Gardens of the Queen. Tampa aquarium officials would keep the National Aquarium updated on coral reef research.

McKnight says a return trip to Cuba hasn't been planned and there is no present plan to bring officials from Cuba to Tampa.
