Sancti Spíritu, Oct. 21 (RHC)-- Members of the visiting contingent of the Juan Rius Rivera solidarity brigade arrived Tuesday in the central province of Sancti Spíritu, where they will develop a packed program of activists that includes exchanges with locals and veterans of the Cuban revolution.

The 50 brigadistas, who arrived in Cuba on October 18th will tour places of historical and cultural interest to learn first hand about the Cuban reality and the effects of the US blockade.

The Puerto Rican solidarity brigade is named after General Juan Rius Rivera, an illustrious Puerto Rican patriot, who joined the Cuban Liberation Army in the war against Spanish colonialism.

Founded in 1991, the Juan Rius Rivera Solidarity Brigade develops an intense campaign in Puerto Rico and around the world against Washington's hostile Cuba policy and for justice for the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters condemned and sentenced to long prison terms in the United States.
