Havana, December 8 (RHC) --Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez highlighted the friendship that unites his country with the Caribbean Community (Caricom), on the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of mutual ties.
In his profile on X, the head of that portfolio celebrated Cuba-Caricom Day, which commemorates this date in 1972 when Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago formalized diplomatic relations with Cuba.
“We celebrate #Cuba-#CARICOM Day, on the 52nd anniversary of Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago establishing diplomatic relations with our country. We recognize the friendship that unites us with the members of @CARICOMorg, whom we thank for their historic support and solidarity,” Rodríguez wrote on the social network.
On the occasion of the anniversary, President Miguel Díaz-Canel received last Friday, at the Palace of the Revolution (headquarters of the Government), the 14 ambassadors of the countries that make up Caricom.
“We met to embrace each other,” said the Head of State, who highlighted the bonds of brotherhood with those nations that, led by those already mentioned, decided 52 years ago to break the diplomatic isolation imposed by the Government of the United States since the beginning of the 1960s.
This fact shows the deep bonds of brotherhood that unite us, and the continuity of the ideology and the work of our historical leaders, who forged the bases for the consolidation of our relations, framed in principles of solidarity, friendship, selflessness and gratitude, the Cuban president asserted on the occasion.
