Havana, March 7 (RHC) The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Ronald Lamola, will meet in Havana with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, on March 10.
The South African Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that the official visit will offer the leaders of both countries a chance to enhance their strategic partnership and collaborative efforts.
Lamola and Rodríguez will also discuss regional and global matters of common concern.
Cuba is one of South Africa’s strategic partners in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The ties between the two nations can be traced back to a time before the democratic elections of 1994, largely attributed to Cuba's contribution to the liberation of South Africa and the defeat of apartheid and colonialism.
The statement emphasizes the cultural, historical, and political connections between South Africa and Cuba, as well as their shared commitment to advancing the development goals of the Global South.
The bilateral partnership is comprehensive and grounded in bilateral agreements spanning several areas, including healthcare, infrastructure development, and education.
Furthermore, the foreign policies of both nations are centered on the peaceful settlement of disputes, multilateralism, the supremacy of international law, and the pivotal role of the United Nations in preserving global peace and security. (Source: Prensa Latina)
