Luanda, March 30 (RHC) --Two of the four Cuban teachers injured last week in the province of Moxico, Angola, are currently in Luanda under the care of professionals at the Meditex clinic.
The transfer was carried out by air the day before, with the collaboration of the National Institute of Medical Emergencies and other institutions, with a view to maintaining even closer monitoring of the teachers' progress.
One of them is still reported as being in very serious condition, although she remains stable and with vital parameters within the normal range; the second, reported as critical, was progressing favorably as of Sunday. The other two teachers who were involved in a traffic accident last Tuesday in the city of Luanda have already been discharged.
This Sunday, the Cuban ambassador to Angola, Oscar León, along with the CEO of Antex S.A., Carlos Martínez, and the Vice President of Antex for Angola, Ernesto Gutiérrez, visited the patients at the Meditex clinic.
The institution's general director, Mario Delgado, and the specialists in charge of monitoring explained their progress and medical treatment.
The accident occurred when the bus transporting the staff from the Moxico Polytechnic Institute, where they taught, was struck by a train at a level crossing. Since the accident became known, Angolan authorities, in conjunction with the Cuban medical brigade on the territory, quickly transported the Cuban specialists and other injured patients to the Moxico General Hospital.
Over the past few days, priority care has been provided by both the Angolan authorities and the management of Antex Angola.
The provincial governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, visited the patients, while the Ministries of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Health are closely monitoring their recovery.
The management of Antex Angola explained to Prensa Latina that Cuban and Angolan doctors treated the injured from the outset, a team that included specialists from the territory's brigades and others from the provinces of Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul, as well as specialists from the Meditex clinic in Luanda.
