Kingston, November 19 (RHC) -- The fraternal relations between Cuba and member countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) were highlighted during a diplomatic meeting in the Jamaican capital, Kingston.

Diplomats and professionals celebrated the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of relations at the Cuban embassy in Kingston. As part of the event, Jacqueline Laguardia, a professor from the University of Havana, presented a lecture to Jamaican students of International Relations on Cuba's relations with Latin America and the Caribbean, the opportunities they offer and challenges to overcome.

Laguardia explained the importance Cuba places on its collaboration with the countries of the Caribbean and said that the U.S. economic blockade against the island as the main obstacle to full fledged cooperation with countries in the region.

After concluding her speech, she referred to the importance of the next CARICOM-Cuba Summit, which will be held in Havana on December 8th.
