Havana, November 28 (RHC) -– An international lawyers panel in favor of the cause of the Cuban Five is meeting today as part of activities of the 12th International Forum of Penal Sciences 2014, underway in Havana.

Some 200 jurists and experts of 23 nations will take part in the event, which will be attended by relatives of the Cuban Five as well as Rene Gonzalez, one of the Five, who together with Fernando Gonzalez, has returned to Cuba after a 15 year prison term in the United States.

Event participants will learn about the world solidarity campaign with this cause and current actions being carried out to achieve the release of Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino and Antonio Guerrero, who have been imprisoned in the United States for more than 16 years now.

The Cuban Five were arrested in 1998 in the United States for monitoring Miami-based groups that promoted terrorism against Cuba.
