Havana, March 23 (RHC) -— Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel is paying a two-day official visit to India on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Havana and New Delhi.

Diaz-Canel arrived in India after completing an African tour that included South Africa, Angola and Namibia.

In India, the Cuban first vice-president is scheduled to meet with local top government authorities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which will be the highest level meeting between the two countries since October 2013.

Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari visited Havana in 2013 and met with President Raul Castro and with Revolution leader Fidel Castro.

Diaz-Canel will also meet with President Pranab Mukherjee, and he will participate at a courtesy banquet on the invitation of his counterpart Hamid Ansari, according to PL news agency.

On Tuesday, Diaz-Canel will visit the city of Agra, 180 kilometers south of Delhi, as well as the Taj Mahal and other cultural centers in that nation.
