Cuba Hosts Meeting of Latin American Geographers

Havana, April 6 (RHC-ACN)-- The 15th Meeting of Geographers of Latin America opened sessions in Havana with the participation of more than 1,500 academics and researchers from across the region and the world, with speakers coming from the Americas, Europe and Africa.

Sponsored by the Faculty of Geography of the University of Havana, the meeting runs through Thursday, April the 9th.

Faculty Dean Nancy Perez told the press that besides geography, subjects for discussion also include tourism, heritage, local development, gender equity and computer sciences.

Organizers highlighted that working sessions will include 16 keynote lectures, among them those by Myrta Kaulard, coordinator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and Theodor Friedrich, representative to Cuba of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
