Cuba and Mexico to Hold High Level Inter-Parliamentary Meeting

Mexico City, June 18 (RHC) –- Havana will host the 25th Cuba-Mexico High Level Inter-parliamentary Meeting June 25th and 26th to consolidate bilateral relations, which were re-launched under the government of Enrique Peña Nieto.

The announcement was made in Mexico City by the speaker of the Mexican Senate Miguel Barbosa, who explained that he expects the attendance of the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies and coordinators of parliamentary political groups at the Senate, which would be 17 or 18 senators plus 10 deputies from all political forces in the country.

Barbosa said that the Mexican government has expressed great interest in this 25th meeting, which tells about the good moment of bilateral relations between the two countries. The forum will deal with issues relevant to the environment, technology and others that will allow develop more useful cooperation between the two nations, said the senator, as cited by PL news agency.

We will adopt concrete accords at the Congress and we will publically commit ourselves to the consolidation and development of the historic relations between Mexico and Cuba, the senator pointed out.

He also said that they look forward to the re-establishment of full diplomatic relations between Washington and Havana, because although it is a bilateral issue it is in the center of attention and concern of the whole continent.
