Cuban Defense Minister Visits Venezuela

Havana, June 23 (RHC) -– The Cuban Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Leopoldo Cintra Frias, is paying a working visit to Venezuela, where he was welcomed by his counterpart General in Chief Vladimir Padrino.

General Padrino said that it is a high honor for Venezuela to welcome the Cuban minister amid the historic commemoration of the 194th anniversary of the Carabobo Battle and the constant challenge in maintaining the way to democracy, justice, peace and defending the project of the Bolivarian Revolution.

The Cuban general visited the tomb treasuring the mortal remains of Bolivarian leader Hugo Chavez as his first activity in the South American nation. General Cintra Frias said that the Cuban people have deep respect for Chavez because he was a great Latin American leader and had a close relationship with Fidel and our nation.

The Cuban armed forces minister will review and update the technical-military accord between the two countries and will participate in activities scheduled for tomorrow, June 24th, Bolivarian Army Day, which marks the 194th anniversary of the historic Battle of Carabobo.
