Havana, July 11 (RHC-PL), -- The National Statistics Office of Cuba (ONEI) indicated that in May the visits of foreign tourists increased by 21 percent.
ONEI said that this increase is an unprecedented figure for this month, compared to previous periods.
ONEI indicated that in May, 237,254 foreign tourists visited Cuba and also that in the first five months of this year Cuba was visited by 1.7 million tourists, which represents a 15.3 percent increase compared to the period from January to May in 2014.
Canada is the main source, followed by Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Argentina and Venezuela.
ONEI said that Cuba was the port of call of 174 foreign cruises from January to May, which represented the visit of some of 62,183 tourists.
Cuban tourism has become a kind of fashion for travelers from around the world, attracted not only by the usual pleasure of sun and sand, but other modalities as nature.
This concept is supported by a smart strategy of the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba to diversify offers and suggest trips related to nature, adventure, tours, conferences, health, culture and heritage.
