Miami, July 30 (RHC)-- Hillary Clinton, pre-candidate for the U.S. presidential elections, will call on Congress to lift the economic blockade against Cuba during a visit to the city of Miami, scheduled for Friday.

Clinton's campaign team said that the former secretary of state will give a speech at Florida's International University and participate in a forum of the National Urban League, an organization in the Black community of Fort Lauderdale, north of Miami.

In her statements, Clinton is expected to back the Barack Obama administration's decision to re-establish diplomatic relations with Cuba and will criticize Republicans who oppose the diplomatic thaw in defense of what she has described as “failed policies of the past.”

On several occasions, Hillary Clinton has asked for the lifting of the over-50-year U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba, imposed by Washington in 1962.

In her recent book entitled Hard Choices, Clinton says that while serving as secretary of state, she suggested that Obama should reconsider the policy of trade sanctions against Cuba and the Cuba travel ban for U.S. citizens.
