Havana, August 17 (RHC)-- The First Deputy Minister of Public Health in Cuba, Jose Angel Porta, recognized that dengue is one of the health problems affecting the region and is a big challenge.

During the International Course on the disease, which is taking place at the Pedro Kouri Institute of Tropical Medicine in Havana, the deputy minister said that despite the efforts to control the disease, the Aedes Aegypti mosquito has achieved rapid growth under favorable development conditions.

He said there are some factors that facilitate the proliferation of this insect, such as problems with drinking water, inadequate disposal systems of waste water and solid waste, and lack of environmental planning in housing and its surroundings.
