Havana, November 11 (RHC)-- A parliamentary delegation from the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda is visiting Cuba until Friday, November 13th, headed by the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Sir Gerald Watt, with the aim of strengthening friendly ties with the island's parliament.

During their stay here, the lawmakers will meet with Cuban Parliament President Esteban Lazo and visit the Cuban Friendship Institute and other places of historic and cultural interest, such as the Hemingway Museum.

This is the first visit to Cuba by parliamentarians from Antigua and Barbuda, who expect to continue expanding and diversifying collaboration links between their country and Cuba.

Antigua and Barbuda and Cuba established diplomatic relations 21 years ago. Antigua and the smaller island of Barbuda count on the collaboration of Cuban workers in the fields of health and engineering.

With a population of 90,000, Antigua and Barbuda is a small Eastern Caribbean nation that has a bicameral parliament made up of 17 appointed senators and 17 elected deputies.
