Havana, November 27 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, and his visiting Uruguayan counterpart Rodolfo Nin Novoa praised the current state of bilateral ties and reiterated both their governments' determination to work together towards further strengthening friendship and cooperation relations.

During a meeting Thursday with his Uruguayan counterpart, Minister Rodríguez pointed out that Havana and Montevideo share similar opinions and ideas regarding several regional and international issues.

The Uruguayan foreign minister took the opportunity to thank the Cuban government and people for Cuba's cooperation with his country, particularly in the field of health and pointed to the more than 60 thousand Uruguayans, who have restored or improved their eye sight thanks to the Operation Miracle free eye-surgery program, run jointly by Cuba and Venezuela.

The two foreign ministers highlighted what they described as excellent relations between Uruguay and Cuba and agreed to work together towards implementing the bi-national program agreed upon by the two governments during the visit of Cuban President Raúl Castro to Uruguay last March.
