Damascus, December 15 (RHC)-- Syrian President Bashar al-Asad met in Damascus with Cuba's new Ambassador to the Arab country Rogerio Santana.

During the exchange, Ambassador Santana conveyed a message of strong support and solidarity sent to Bashar al-Asad and the Syrian people by Cuban President Raúl Castro and Revolution leader Fidel Castro, on behalf of the entire Cuban people. In the message, Fidel and Raúl point to the heroism of the Syrian government and people in the war they are waging against terrorism.

President Bashar al-Assad took the opportunity to praise Cuba's solidarity with just causes around the world and expressed his government's determination to strengthen government-to-government ties and cooperation relations with the Caribbean state in several areas of mutual interest.
