Havana, January 6 (RHC)-- The Governor of the U.S. State of Virginia Terry McAuliffe concluded on Tuesday a working visit to Cuba, during which he called for the lifting of Washington's blockade policy towards Cuba. The governor of Virginia and his accompanying delegation met with Cuban authorities and toured places of interest.

“2016 must be the year to advance relations between the United States and Cuba, lift the U.S. Blockade policy and do the right thing for citizens of both countries,” Governor McAuliffe told a press conference shortly before departing from Havana Tuesday evening.

Following his tour of the Mariel port and the Special development Zone, the U.S. Politician pointed to the potential for bilateral trade exchange between the two countries and said that back in the U.S. he will share his experiences with members of U.S. Congress and White House officials.

“Cuban authorities want us to come here to do business. It is up to us now, to do our job back in Washington,” he said.

Regarding the U.S. blockade, Governor U.S. politicians should visit Cuba to learn first hand about the island.

McAuliffe said “We should bring elected U.S. politicians here, to Cuba, so that they experience first hand how unfair the blockade and the current restrictions actually are.”
