Mexico City, March 2 (RHC)-- Cuba has confirmed its commitment with the full implementation of the Plan for Food Security, Nutrition and Hunger Eradication of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The announcement was made by Deputy Minister of Agriculture José Miguel Rodríguez at the 34th FAO regional conference, which is taking place in Mexico City.
In statements to Prensa Latina news agency, Rodríguez said that Cuba has implemented several programs to increase food production and processing, which allowed the Caribbean state to meet well in advance the goals set by the First World Food Summit.
Deputy Minister José Miguel Rodríguez recalled recent statements by FAO Director José Graciano da Silva, who said that despite being a poor, blockaded country, Cuba is among the world's top 16 countries with the best results in terms of hunger reduction.
