Cuban Parliament's Working Commissions Debate National Issues in Advance for Plenary Session on Friday

Havana, July 5 (RHC)--Members of the Cuban National Assembly of People's Power gathered in 10 working committees continued discussions Tuesday prior to the legislative's mid-year plenary session, scheduled for Friday.

During the debates in the Economic Affairs Committee, Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Economy Minister, Marino Murillo, said that measures will be introduced to cope with financial constraints during the second half of the year, measures that he said will not affect vital services for the population or the country's internal monetary equilibrium.
Murillo indicated that steps would be taken as well to increase the purchasing power of the Cuban peso and others in connection with the investment program envisioned for the country.
The Cuban economy minister called attention to the problems present in the availability of fuel, a situation that he said demanded strict conservation practices and a more efficient use of energy.
National Assembly president Esteban Lazo noted that there are still untapped reserves when it comes to energy conservation and efficiency.

The debates of the 10 working committees of the Cuban National Assembly will extend untill Wednesday, and will culminate with a plenary session of the National Assembly of People's Power on Friday, July 8th.
