Havana, August 2 (RHC)-- The President of the Cuban Institute of Civil Aeronautics(IACC), Armando Daniel López, headed the country's delegation to the 8th Meeting of General Directors of Civil Aviation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (NACC), held July 31 through August 2 in Toronto, Canada.
The meeting's inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Fang Liu, General Secretary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Participants reviewed the progress of the regional strategy “No Country Left Behind”, aimed at raising the level of states' compliance with rules and regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Other issues addressed included the needs and challenges of global aviation and training of civil aviation personnel. A Letter of Intent was signed that provides for regional collaboration among training centers of North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
Addressing the meeting, the President of the Cuban Institute of Civil Aeronautics highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen the main role of the International Civil Aviation Organization in generating the appropriate framework of global regulations to ensure safe and orderly air navigation, as well as adequate mechanisms of cooperation and technical assistance to States.
