Havana, February 20 (RHC)-- The United Nations has delivered 14 million dollars in financial aid for victims of a freak, devastating tornado that hit five Havana municipalities on January 27th.
In thanking the UN for the gesture, Cuban authorities announced that the money will be used to help repair damage to health services, water supply, sanitation, food security and homes.
Also on Tuesday, humanitarian aid sent by the Bolivian government and people arrived in Havana. The donation includes 1,000 mattresses and roofing materials to contribute to housing repairs.
On delivering the aid at Havana’s José Martí airport, the general director for emergencies and assistance of the Bolivian Civil Defense Ministry,
Javier Ayllón, said the cargo is a small reflection of the profound solidarity that unites the peoples of Bolivia and Cuba.
