Cuba is actively participating in the Eurasian Economic Union, one of the most important regional organizations in the world, which covers a population of 184 million people.

Since 2020 our country holds the status of observer state of that integrating mechanism, a sign of the positive relations it maintains with the nations that make it up and that go back decades.

In fact, in June 2023 Cuba was awarded the commemorative insignia of the Eurasian Economic Commission for its contribution to the integration of that area and for facilitating mutually beneficial cooperation among member states.

Havana has made clear its position of contributing to the development of the organization from unity, and always respecting the principles that define it.

A will and commitment reiterated during the visit to the Cuban capital of Serguei Glaziev, Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Union, described as very important and profitable by Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel.

As part of Glaziev's trip to Cuba, the Third Meeting of the Joint Commission between the Eurasian Economic Commission and Cuba was held, which showed the interest in deepening ties in the circulation of medicines and medical devices, agribusiness and business activities.

The meeting was attended by a large number of officials, managers and businessmen from the agribusiness, tourism, education, technology and finance sectors of the member countries of the organization.

The meeting emphasized the existing opportunities to promote investments in key sectors for both parties, such as biotechnology, health and agriculture.

According to Cuban authorities, in recent times there has been an increase in bilateral contacts, with the participation, for example, of the bloc in the Havana International Fair, held last November, which included a panel dedicated to this mechanism.

Likewise, delegations from the Eurasian Economic Union have visited the Mariel Special Development Zone, in western Cuba, with an interest in building an industrial park.

Likewise, representatives of Cuban organizations and institutions have traveled to Russia and Belarus.

It is the will of both parties to continue exploring new avenues of cooperation to deepen economic and commercial ties for the benefit of mutual growth.
